With over 17 years of professional experience, Simon Zhang brings an architect’s vision and discipline directly to the design-build process. As Principal Architect of XZ Design Build NYC, he leads projects from early planning and design through permitting, construction, and completion.

Simon believes great design must work in the real world. Function, beauty, budget, and constructability are considered together from the very beginning—helping clients make smarter decisions, avoid costly surprises, and turn strong ideas into successful spaces.

With experience across restaurants, retail, wellness, workplace, and other commercial spaces, Simon brings together architecture, interiors, engineering, and construction with one clear goal: to protect the design vision while keeping the project practical, efficient, and buildable.

Simon is a licensed architect in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a member of the AIA, ICAA, and NCARB. He holds a degree from the University of Minnesota School of Architecture.
